Perseverance

Run With Purpose

Day 16

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
— Hebrews 12:1
Reflection

Every runner knows: extra weight slows you down. The writer of Hebrews urges us to lay aside every weight — not only sin, but anything that hinders. Even good things can become weights if they pull you off course. And notice it is a race 'set before us' — your lane, your pace, your finish line. You are not competing with anyone else. Keep your eyes on Jesus, travel light, and keep running. The crown is worth it.

Prayer

Lord, show me the weights I am carrying that You never asked me to carry. Help me lay them down and run my race faithfully. Amen.

Action Step

Identify one 'weight' (habit, worry or distraction) to lay aside this week.
